Wildwood Buggy Bash 2009
(Spring Thing)

May 8th, 9th, and 10th.

Well the Spring Wildwood Buggy Bash 2009 is history and what a great Bash it was.
First we must thank the weather Gods. The forecast called for a 60% chance of rain Friday and Saturday, partly cloudy Sunday.
Friday and Saturday we gathered at North Beach under mostly sunny skies with north to northwest winds at 10 plus.
With a Saturday night prediction of SW winds at 13 mph for Sunday we changed location to Pier Beach in Wildwood Crest for Sunday. It was perfect!
All three days were filled with good friends (and some new ones), good food, good power kiting, good BloKarting, and great fun.
Saturday night we all got together at Beachcomber Campground for more good food (thanks Brian and Jen), and a collection of Wildwood Power Kiting/BloKarting videos presented by LBJ.
I think this weekend we set the bar for what a near perfect event is all about.
Thanks to all that attended and a "Big Thanks" to those that contributed in making the Wildwood Buggy Bash 2009 (spring thing) a memorable happening.

I try to get to Wildwood anytime (off season) these 3 requirements are met:
       1. Low tide happens between 11:00 AM and one hour before sunset.
       2. No precipitation and the temperature is above 40 degrees.
       3. And the hardest to get, afternoon winds above 10 mph, any direction for two or more consecutive days. ESE being the perfect direction, directly from the ocean.
I always have a complete selection of HQ Power Kites (Rush, Beamer, Crossfire, APEX, Montana, and NASA Wings), Peter Lynn Buggys, and MBS Mountainboards for you to try out.
Most of the time I stay at the Apollo Motel located at St. Paul Ave. and the beach in Wildwood Crest. They close for the season usually late October.
It's a nice laid - back place with the best rates going. It is located 20 blocks south of the Wildwood Crest Fishing Pier. You can get all the info and a map here: www.apollomotel.com. Turn down your speaker volume!

Please send me an email if you have any questions or want to get together.

Wildwood has a great beach! When the is tide out there is aprox. 300 to 600 ft. of smooth hard pack sand, perfect for Buggying or Boarding. There is usually enough hard pack from 3 hrs before low tide to 3 1/2 hrs after low tide to have fun. If you have Bigfoot tires and enough wind you can buggy anytime on the soft sand.
The normal wind direction is NE which blowing straight down the beach (south). Once in awhile you get a SE wind from the ocean which is pure paradise.
It's not my sport but when the wind is good there is usually a couple Kite Surfers enjoy the water and breeze. They are always fun to watch.
